ADVANCED PERCUSSION SKRATCHING / TURNTABLIST COURSE

The final preparation to becoming a confident, live performer… This 6-week course is designed to break down the fundamentals of skratching by showcasing the mid 90’s to the present day skratch techniques. Students will learn the advanced techniques of percussion skratching which is a style based off of drummers and percussionist. This course teaches students how to never create a mistake while performing the scratch to a constant groove.

Course Specifics:

Prerequisites/Skill Requirements: Intermediate Turntablist Course or 5 years of experience
Equipment Requirements: None (all equipment and records provided)
Class Size: 6 students
Course Length: 6 Classes (120-min classes meets 1x a wk)

Skills Covered:

• Mental Skratch Preparation: without the use of equipment
• Hand / Forearm Exercise and Techniques: to create speed and long lasting performance
• Advanced Percussion Skratches: LEARN one-handed skratch techniques, platter control skratches, scratch drumming & combinations of all skratches
• Coordinating the body for skratching enhancement: allowing ease of mobility and flexibility when skratching
• Record and Fader Technique: several techniques to create accurate control from various beats per minute(BPM).
