INTERMEDIATE / TURNTABLIST COURSE

Hand, Speed and Control… This 6-week course is designed to instruct the Intermediate Turntablist on the fundamentals of skratching by showcasing the late 80’s to the Skratch Picklz Era. This course will display how to improvise, do fills, and how to lead in a scratch band. This is the foundation for the next level of instruction: Advanced Percussion Skratching.

Course Specifics:

Prerequisites/Skill Requirements: Beginner Turntablist Course or 1+ year experience in skratching
Equipment Requirements: None (all equipment and records provided)
Class Size: 6 students
Course Length: 6 Classes (120-min classes meets 1x a wk)

Skills Covered:

  • Mental Skratch Preparation: without the use of equipment
  • Hand / Forearm Exercise and Techniques: to create speed and long lasting performance
  • Advanced Skratches / flares / crabs / lasers / orbits / echoes and many more…
  • Coordinating the body for skratching enhancement: allowing ease of mobility and flexibility when skratching
  • Record and Fader Technique: several techniques to create accurate control from various beats per minute(BPM).
